Rumpus Room, Carbondale, IL - Nov. 1963 - Local Phi Kappa Tau chapter, Beta Chi, produced a very popular area club band, "The Four Taus". Focusing on blues and rock n' roll, the band drew crowds to many of the popular venues around a wide area of southern Illinois. Beginning as a party band, The Four Taus grew into professional entertainers for hire, making appearances principally in the Southern Illinois area, but as far away as the ski resorts of Colorado during the winter Holiday periods.

Band members hailed from all over Illinois: Ray Thomeczek, singer, Alton; Dan Donnelly, drummer, Chicago; Kirby Lindsey, lead guitar, Morrisonville; and Harvey Grandstaff, bass guitar, Mounds.
