Donald CrowMTHS Class of 1950
Donald Crow, age 80 of Boise, Idaho formerly of Mounds, Illinois passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 at his home.
Donald was born November 30, 1932 in Mounds, Illinois, son of the late Leonard and Erma (Daniels) Crow.
Donald attended Mounds Thistlewood Grade School and graduated from Mounds Township High School in 1950.
Don began to work for J.J. Blumís department store and later served with the military in the Korean War for two years. He resumed his position at the J. J. Blumís store, and started a career in the retail world.
Don married Freda Johnson on January 9, 1956. Soon Don and Freda were joined by three sons, Randy, Jeffrey, and Gregory. Don had worked his way up from a stock boy, to a store manager, to being transferred across the United States with P.N. Hirsch and Company. In 1970 Don was promoted from store manager in Kansas City, Missouri to supervisor of thirteen stores in Idaho.
In 1980, Don became field manager and store planner for Idaho Department Stores and traveled extensively until the closure of the stores in 1986. Don retired in 1996.
Most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren, Justin and Morgan and all of their activities and sports, ďPapa was always there for them.Ē
Survivors include his wife, Freda; sons, Jeffrey and Gregory Crow; brother, Lonnie Crow of Mounds, IL; sister Wanda Austin of Scott City, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Randy, and a brother, James Crow.
